  • Admin

Dry cleaning is a process of cleaning clothes with a special product that can remove tough stains without damaging the fabric, the fibers and the colors. Apart from sending your clothes to a dry cleaning shop, you can do it yourself as well. It is easy if you understand the right method.

What kind of clothes are suitable for dry cleaning?

Clothing, bedding sets and every piece with a dry clean only symbol or text -- be it a suit, wool, bed sheets or curtains – should be dry cleaned. Some types of fabric can be cleaned at home. However, to be safe, you need to ensure that the cleaning product will not damage the fabric by testing it on a small patch inside.

Dry cleaning method

Most clothes that require dry cleaning are made of delicate materials. Therefore, the most suitable dry cleaning method is by hand, as it is more gentle than machine cleaning. If you really need to use a cleaning machine, use a gentle detergent and fabric softener.

  • For suits made of delicate materials, such as wool, you may try to dry clean them by wrapping them with 2-3 layers of other pieces of clothing before loading them into the chamber and washing as normal. Shake them out before leaving them to dry in the air. Avoid squeezing or twisting them as it may cause wrinkles.
  • Winter clothes can be cleaned by putting them in wash bags to protect the fabric. After washing, shake them out until damp. Arrange them well before drying them in the air.
  • Wool, cashmere and silk are particularly delicate. You should only hand wash them. If you really have to use washing machine, select the most gentle mode and use only dry cleaning products.

You can dry clean clothes by yourself without relying on professional dry cleaning services, if only you understand dry cleaning methods suitable for certain kinds of fabric. Try the simple methods provided above and your clothes will be clean as if they were brand new.
