Using Fabric Softener

 What is fabric softener?

Fabric softener is a widely-used product. It is usually poured into the washing chamber during the last round of rinsing to improve the outcome. You can pour the softener either directly into the chamber, through the softener dispenser of the machine (See the instruction on the softener package.), or into the wash tub during the last rinse in case of hand washing.

What does fabric softener do?

  • Fabric softener helps the clothes feel more comfortable It is used to soften the fabric, making the clothes feel more comfortable when worn. Soft fabric textures are not irritating and therefore suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Fabric softener also adds fragrant to the clothes as most softeners contain floral fragrant Your clothes will smell good for a long time. If you are wondering which softening products will last long, the answer is easy. Simply choose an efficient one as it will last long and retain the desired fragrant on your clothes.
  • Fabric softener protects clothes especially thin clothes such as wool. As you clothes are washed again and again, the fibers may get tangled up and lint may start to form, causing the clothes to look worn. Fabric softener softens the fibers and keep the fabric in good condition, flexible, and new for longer.
  • Fabric softener helps save your time It is particularly useful if you want to reduce the time spent on ironing by minimizing wrinkles formed once the clothes are removed from the machine. Softer texture also causes the fibers to loosen up, making the clothes easy to iron.

How to apply fabric softener?

If you are wondering where should you pour the softener, normally there is a small flower symbol on the softener dispenser of your washing machine. However, this also depends on the machine. Make sure you check with the manual.

If there is no manual, you can look up the instructions on the machine manufacturer’s website or YouTube to see which dispenser is for the softener and which is for the detergent.

Using Fabric Softener

  1. Use an appropriate amount of softener. The most important thing is that you read the instructions on the label to ensure that the amount applied is correct and suitable for the fabric
  2. Fabric softener should only be applied through the machine’s softener dispenser. For best results, apply the softener during the last rinse. If you pour the softener through the detergent dispenser, the softener will get mixed up with the detergent powder during the wash, which will impair its performance. If you are not sure which dispenser is for the softener, check with the machine manual.
  3. For best results, use the softener within 3 months after purchasing. If you do not have a lot of clothes to wash, do not buy a big quantity of softener at once as the softener texture can get viscous and sticky if left for a long time.
  4. Keep the softener away from sunlight. Avoid high and low temperature. And do not let the softener thicken up.
  5. Do not use the softener container lid to measure detergent and refrain from mixing the softener with other cleaning products, as the softener itself is already designed to provide fragrance. Although it is convenient to measure detergent with the softener container lid, a single drop of detergent can cause the softener to thicken up to the point that it becomes difficult to use.

Softening towels

-- Once in a while, after so many uses, towels should be washed with softener to keep them soft and fluffy. In addition to the laundry symbols on the tag, the following methods can make your towels soft and fluffy again

  • Ensure the right quantity of softener is used Read the product label to determine the appropriate quantity for each use. Check the water hardness in your area. Water hardness and excessive use of detergent can make towels rough.
  • Wash the towels in hot water, , as it helps remove the detergent powder and other residues on the fabric that might be the cause of roughness. Check the laundry symbols on the tag to see the water temperature limit.
  • If you need to tumble dry the towels, do it at a low temperature. Too much heat during the drying will make all the softening effort go to waste!
